Maynooth Community Council was established in 1984 by Democratic Elections, (non-political, non-denominational), as a voluntary body to represent the local community and to respond to issues and the needs of the town. Over the past years we have been strong and forceful in issues affecting the area.
Maynooth Community Council is a Department of Social Protection sponsored Community Employment Scheme. Our purpose is to supply a monthly magazine (Maynooth Newsletter) to the local community, which is delivered to the major estates in Maynooth free of charge.
It is also available in several locations around the town. The newsletter consists of local community news and political news relating to the area. We also post reports & photographs of local events. The Newsletter is happy to publish articles for local community groups.
The Community Council also organise the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Maynooth Summer Festival. They also provide staff to maintain the Harbour area of Maynooth and manage the Maynooth Community Space on behalf of Kildare County Council.
